Snow, Goathland
Goathland is a long meandering village tucked
into a fold in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. The village
has always been a popular haunt of visitors to this beautiful area.
Even more so, now it is the film location for much of the very widely
viewed 'Heartbeat' TV series produced by Yorkshire Television where
it is known as "Aidensfield".
Goathland is regarded as one
of the jewels of the North Yorkshire Moors.
In many ways, however, it is not the easiest village to paint.
John Freeman chose the aspect which enables the viewers
eye to explore this charming village before moving on, following
the contours of the moors enfolding Goathland.
Well known for his snow scenes, John Freeman's Goathland,
with its foraging black-faced sheep, glimpses of pan tiles and mellow
stone is a print that holds much to interest the viewer.
