The West
Pier, Whitby ~NOW SOLD OUT!~
(Print
detail shown below)
The Subject
Whitby piers have protected
the harbour from the power of the North Sea for centuries. The first mention
of the West Pier was in Henry VIII time, much rebuilding and the edition of
the fine lighthouse in 1831 gives us the pier we see today. 19th century capstans
to haul ships in and out of the harbour and round magazine and powder house
belonging to a battery of defensive guns of the Napoleonic era complete the
picture.
Between the two is the slipway
giving access to the beach and a means of launching Whitby's early lifeboats,
daunting dash straight into the teeth of the prevailing gales and high seas.
The Print
Created by a revolutionary
new technique, which is set to transform the fine art printing world. The combination
of new inkjet printers and inks using pigmented ink rather than dye-based inks
has combined high detail and resolution with that other vital attribute - premanency.
The light fastness achieved using this combination of inks and specially developed
fine art water colour papers such as the Albrecht Durer paper used here, will
give this print an estimated 100 years lifespan.
Visually the print is stunningly
close to the original painting in colour tone and texture.
This is a limited edition of only 50 prints, signed and numbered by the artist.
No print or painting will benefit from hanging in the sunlight.
