Beckhole Nocturne 14 x 10

A tiny hamlet nestling in a quiet wooded valley in the North Yorkshire Moors close to Goathland. Beckhole has not always been so quiet! In the 1860`s it was the home of a blast furnace and rows of miners cottages, all long since demolished.Today the Birch Hall Inn depicted here is the main point of activity in this much visited spot. This tiny, but popular pub with the murke Esk flowing by will also offer refreshment during the evening Quoites  matches played on the village green as it does to the many walkers passing through.

John Freeman has depicted Beckhole on a cool moonlit night accentuating the warmth emanating from this cosy and very popular inn.
