14" x 10" Limited Edition Print This is one of the most photographed and painted buildings in this part of Yorkshire, to the north east of Pickering, which is not an area renowned for its thatched cottages! Beck Isle Cottage is fronted by the fast running Thornton Beck. One would normally expect a pretty cottage garden to front such a dwelling, but instead its occupants have been serenaded for centuries by the Beck's waters. In this nocturne study by John Freeman the warm interior is reflected in the waters of the Beck. A vendor or neighbour is bringing something to the door. Folk are enjoying the warmth of the cottage's snug interior whilst a silvery moon shines through drifting cloud and wintry trees.
